Discovery Park Retreat Center

Located in Northwest Seattle, Discovery Park is on an old army training facility that offers vistas to the Olympic Mountains and the Puget Sound. The studio proposal involved siting and designing a retreat center with accommodations for up to 40 guests, a large flexible gathering space, classrooms, conference rooms and offices. Given the historical nature of the site and its dense tree canopy, Ribbon became a study of weaving a building through landscape and minimizing its ecological footprint.
